Giving Thanks by Giving Back
November is all about giving thanks and giving back. Here are just a few ways you can get involved and volunteer in the St. Louis area:
Help build stronger communities by empowering people with food and hope. Lend a hand at the St. Louis Area Foodbank’s Volunteer Center, where you can sort, box and repackage food for area families and seniors who depend on it. Last year, volunteers packaged 5.6 million pounds of food. Sign up for an upcoming shift.
The Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family Program
Adopt-A-Family was created to provide for families in need during the holidays. The families who qualify for the program are facing significant financial hardships and are often unable to afford a Christmas dinner, new toys and warm clothing for their children. Some have experienced natural disasters or serious medical challenges, while others are grandparents who recently become guardians of grandchildren. Complete the sponsor application today.
Help make St. Louis a place where people visit, enjoy and return by being part of Explore St. Louis’ welcoming committee! You’ll provide a warm STL welcome to vacationers, convention delegates and business travelers and help them make the most of their time in the Lou. Positions with the Gateway Greeters, Convention Volunteer Team and the Visitor Information Center are available. Find out more and apply today.
Help keep St. Louis’ largest city park beautiful! Forest Park Forever offers an array of volunteer opportunities, including assisting with restoration projects and special events. You could even be a park ambassador or give park tours. Apply to be a Forest Park Forever volunteer today.
You can be part of this exciting time at Gateway Arch National Park by joining the park’s VIP (Volunteers-In-Parks) team! Team members have the opportunity to work at the Arch and Old Courthouse’s information desks, gift shops and much more. Interested? Get started by filling out a volunteer application.
Shiner’s Hospital for Children
At Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, volunteers either work behind the scenes or interact with patients, families and staff. Every volunteer provides a genuine service to the hospital and patients and is given the opportunity to provide support to patients and their families during their hospital stay and clinic visits. Volunteer placement is based on matching your abilities, interests and availability with the needs of the hospital. Sign up to be a volunteer by submitting an application.
