Happy National Park Week!
Did you know? There is a National Parkyes, a National Park!located in the heart of downtown St. Louis.
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (JNEM) neighbors the Mississippi Riverfront and features two very prominent St. Louis landmarksone with a green dome, and another 630 feet tall. The Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse have welcomed millions for decades. The JNEM site was established as a National Park on December 21, 1935.
Beginning this weekend, the National Park Service presents National Park Week, a presidentially proclaimed celebration of our national heritage and our National Parks around the country.
All week long, special touch tables, brochures and trading cards will be available at the Old Courthouse for visitors to learn more about this special week.
In addition, this weekend (April 18 & 19) is a Fee-Free Weekend at all National Parks. That means at JNEM, you can enjoy $3 off your Journey to the Top tram ride ticket and FREE Arch Entry-Only tickets.
Saturday, April 19 is also Junior Ranger Day. Kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge at the Old Courthouse by completing a Junior Ranger activity booklet.
Also on Saturday, April 19 at 2 pm: Old Courthouse visitors can participate in a special scripted mock trial. Guests can play the roles of the court officers and the defendent in this unique program.
