Hockey Mania!
With NHL® All-Star Week quickly approaching, it’s hockey mania in St. Louis! Here’s how you can take part in all of the festivities happening around town. (In addition, enjoy value pricing on Tram Ride to the Top tickets January 20- 23: $12/adults and $8/children. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an NPS fee-free day, so an extra $3 off is included in adult tickets. Purchase your tram tickets online in advance of your Arch visit.)
Can’t make it to the All-Star Game? You can still get your fix of live-action hockey at the Louis Blues 3-on-3 Hockey Classic Championship. All Winterfest, hockey teams of three have been battling it out at the rink. On Saturday, January 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Winterfest Ice Rink in Kiener Plaza, cheer on the teams as they compete for the championship! Free to watch.
Charles Glenn is performing not one, but TWO free concerts at the Winterfest Ice Rink! On Saturday, January 18 from 1 to 4 p.m., the One Nation Celebration takes over Kiener Plaza. Enjoy ice skating, kids activities such as face painters and caricature artists (12:30 to 3 p.m.), and giveaways galore, including Winterfest hockey pucks, Cardinals memorabilia and passes to the Cardinals Care Winter Warm-Up. (Charles Glenn performs at 1 and 3 p.m.) Free admission. Bring your own skates. Skate rentals also available on site and can be secured online.
Youth hockey players from across the country will convene at the Winterfest Ice Rink to put their skills to the ultimate test at the NHL® Learn-To-Play Skills Jamboree & All-Star Game on Friday, January 24 at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday, January 25 at noon. This competition is comprised of four challenges based on fundamental hockey skills they learned while participating in the NHL® Learn-to-Play program in their hometowns. St. Louis Blues’ own Louie will make an appearance at the rink on Friday. Free to watch.
In partnership with the NHL®, the St. Louis Blues will host the NHL® Black Hockey History Tour Truck at various locations throughout St. Louis during All-Star Weekend, including Kiener Plaza on Saturday, January 25 from 12 to 9:30 p.m. The 525-square-foot mobile museum dedicated to telling the stories of black achievements in hockey will look back at the founders, trailblazers, history makers and Stanley Cup champions, and look ahead to the next generation of young stars, NHL® officials, broadcasters and women in the game. Free admission.
Louis Blues Youth Hockey invites boys and girls ages 4-9 to experience ice hockey for the first time on Sunday, January 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. At the aptly named Try Hockey For Free, participants will learn various hockey skills in a fun, safe environment. Free pre-registration is required online.
