#5 Nick Foles, Quarterback
Traded from the Philadelphia Eagles, 26-year-old Nick Foles is the Rams’ starting quarterback. He currently holds the record for the best touchdown-interception ratio in a single season (achieved in 2013). In 2012, Foles became the second quarterback with a perfect passer rating and the first to throw seven touchdowns in a single game. He played in college for the University of Arizona. Fun fact: Foles’ wife, Tori Moore, played volleyball for the University of Arizona.
#26 Mark Barron, Safety
25-year-old Mark Barron joins the Rams after a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barron achieved All-American status twice during his college career playing for the University of Alabama, qualifying twice with the team for the BCS National Championship. While playing for the Bucs, he made the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team. Fun fact: Barron was also a track-and-field star in high school and won multiple state titles.
#30 Todd Gurley, Running Back
As the Rams’ top draft pick for the season, Todd Gurley is “a running back you can build an offense around,” according to Sports Illustrated. Hailing from the University of Georgia, Gurley was actually out for five months due to an ACL surgery, but rebounded immediately as a 10th overall pick in the 2015 draft. Fun Fact: Gurley excelled in football, track and basketball in high school.
#79 Rob Havenstein, Offensive Tackle
The Rams’ second draft pick for 2015 helped lead the University of Wisconsin Badgers to a record 320.1 yards rushing per game last year, according to the St. Louis Rams website. The 6’7″, 321-lb. Havenstein started in 42 of his 54 games played with Wisconsin, and was named first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten in 2014, according to his NFL draft profile. Fun fact: Havenstein didn’t have one holding call against him in 2014.
#56 Akeem Ayers, Middle Linebacker
As a Super Bowl XLIX champion with the New England Patriots, Akeem Ayers is expected to be an asset to the already strong Rams defense. (In fact, Sports Illustrated and Fox Sports predict the Rams will have the best defense in the NFL this season.) In his professional career, Ayers has started 48 out of 59 games, and boasts 269 career tackles and 13 sacks. Fun fact: Ayers has twin daughters, Peyton and Cassidy.
