Q&A with Arch Tour Guide Habiba Euli
Gateway Arch Tour Guide Habiba Euli has been part of the Arch team for two years. Get to know a little about her and what she loves about working at the Arch.
Q: Why did you choose to work at the Gateway Arch?
A: My sister used to work at the Arch at Photogenic. She thought it was a good opportunity for me to also work at the Arch. I was looking for employment and my sister recommended it. I applied and I started working here and am enjoying it!
Q: What was your most memorable experience working at the Arch?
A: During the summer of 2018, there was a family visiting from Poland. They had a little girl who was afraid to go into one of the trams, I had to talk her through it. I told her it was all in the mind and it was really worth it and the view is really great once you get up there.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: It’s flexible! It’s flexible around hours. It’s all about you putting in the days, telling them ahead of time when you can and can’t work. I’m a college student so being able to get those few days off work and only being able to work through the weekends is one of the best things you can ever get. That’s why I love working here.
Q: How do you feel about representing the face of St. Louis?
A: I feel honored. I really didn’t think I was going to work at the Arch. When I first came to the Arch, it was during my interview. I didn’t even know there was an underground way to get to the museum. It was pretty cool, I knew there was a way to get up there. My mother told me there was this elevator that takes you up. It has been an honor and it’s really fun. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Especially during the winter, season, storms, the different seasons.
Q: How would you convince a good friend of yours to work at the Arch?
A: If you are the type of person who loves meeting new people, learning about different cultures, this is the place to be. If you are looking to amp up your resume, to say that you worked at a national park, that’s a big deal. If you want to do all that, then I encourage you to work here. It’s a fun experience, you get to meet new people, you get to interact with customers and it’s the place to go.
