Resilience Shines in the St. Louis Community
A global pandemic won’t stop the St. Louis community from coming together to support one another, social-distancing style. During this time of crisis and uncertainty it is important to remember the positive news that makes our St. Louis community so special!
Here are some examples to brighten your day:
Four Hands Brewing Company rallied to create their own hand sanitizer to combat the national shortage. This liquid gold is offered in 2oz bottles, free of charge. Those in need of hand sanitizer can stop by Four Hands and grab one bottle per person. The company asks for donations to support the St. Louis Hospitality industry.
In other brewery news, Jarred Williamson, head brewer at Schlafly Beer, turned an unfortunate wedding cancellation into a fundraising campaign to benefit the STL hospitality industry. Jarred crafted a special IPA symbolizing the act of two hands coming together in love to be served at his wedding which was canceled due to COVID-19. The beer, offering flavors of strawberry jam and passionfruit, now symbolizes the St. Louis community coming together in support of the hospitality industry. Williamson named the beer “Side Work” and will donate the proceeds to the Gateway Resilience Fund.
The Gateway Resilience Fund provides monetary relief to those experiencing financial burden due to the closures of St. Louis restaurants, bars and shops. Visit the Gateway Resilience Fund to learn more or donate directly.
Lunch For Clinicians STL is raising money to simultaneously support local restaurants and feed our frontline health workers by ordering cost-effective meals that are delivered to area hospitals. Lunch for Clinicians STL accepts donations directly through their GoFundMe.
If you are looking for a unique activity, the St. Louis Zoo offers virtual excitement through the #BringTheSTLZooToYou campaign. Stay up to date with zoo happenings through the “ZooTube” and watch the live stream of the penguin and puffin exhibit from 9am to 5pm (CT) daily.
These are a few of many examples of resilience, hope and teamwork throughout our St. Louis community as we face tremendous challenges.
