Transform a MetroBus Into a Portrait of Downtown St. Louis at the ‘Be a Tourist in Your Own Town’ Event on May 2
People of all ages are invited to transform a MetroBus into a captivating piece of moving art featuring the iconic symbol of St. Louis: the Gateway Arch. To celebrate the grand opening of the Museum at the Gateway Arch on July 3, Metro Arts in Transit and the Gateway Arch are teaming up for a special Art in Motion bus painting at the Explore St. Louis “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town” event in Kiener Plaza on Wednesday, May 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Participants will use the blank canvas of a MetroBus to create a colorful landscape featuring a vibrant mix of blue, gray and orange hues, and images of iconic downtown St. Louis structures, including the Gateway Arch and historic Old Courthouse. When completed, the Art in Motion bus will go into regular service and travel along a variety of MetroBus routes in St. Louis County and the City of St. Louis over the next year.
